TIMELINE - 1960's & 1970's
How we got to where we are now...
1967 - Dennis is born in New York City on July 1st - the same day as Canadian actress and "Baywatch" star Pamela Anderson. The #1 song on the Billboard Hot 100 Charts on his birthday this year is The Associations' "Windy."
1972 - Dennis attends kindergarten in Bayside, Queens, NY. His dad buys him the Jackson 5's "Third Album" (the one with "I'll Be There" on it) to add to his record collection, which includes albums by Dean Martin and The Lennon Sisters. (His diverse musical tastes were forming way back then.) The #1 song on the Billboard Hot 100 Charts on his birthday this year is Neil Diamond's "Song Sung Blue."
1973 - Dennis' family moves from Bayside, Queens, up the Palisades Parkway to a northern suburbs of New York City. He starts piano lessons in September - the same month he starts his first of eight years as a student at St. Pauls elementary school. He buys his very first 45 record with his own money from the Record Den at the Nanuet Mall: KC and the Sunshine Band's "Shake Your Booty." The #1 song on the Billboard Hot 100 Charts on his birthday this year is George Harrison's "Give Me Love (Give Me Peace On Earth)."

1979 - Dennis purchases his first 33 1/3 vinyl album with his own allowance money: Earth Wind & Fire's "I Am", featuring the hits "Boogie Wonderland" and "After the Love Is Gone". Also while in grade six, he begins guitar lessons at a short-lived after-school music program, where his younger brother, Ben, learns how to play the clarinet. Dennis learns the G, C, and D chords and it was the first time he heard the old-timey folk song, "Tom Dooley." The #1 song on the Billboard Hot 100 Charts on his birthday this year is Anita Ward's "Ring My Bell."
