TIMELINE - 2010's
How we got to where we are now...
2010 - Dennis enters two songs from "Broken Street" - "Beautiful Again" and "New Years Eve" - into the John Lennon Songwriting Competition, the USA Songwriting Competition, and the Independent Music Awards. He also submits "Beautiful Again" and "The Show Goes On" to the Chicago-based online radio station, fearlessradio.com. In May, both songs chart on the station's weekly listener-voted countdown show. "Beautiful Again" gets to the #19 position; "The Show Goes On" peaks at #9. Dennis also plays "The Show Goes On" and "The Middle of Nowhere" at the Open Mic Stage at the Woodstock Folk Festival in Woodstock, Illinois that summer. The #1 song on the Billboard Hot 100 Charts on his birthday this year is Katy Perry and Snoop Dog's "California Gurls."
2011 - Dennis travels to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada to visit his cousins and their families. While there, he takes a day to attend the Songwriter's Workshop at the Winnipeg Folk Music Festival. He works on a song that he plays for Canadian singer/songwriter Connie Kaldor, who is serving as a mentor to the room full of aspiring songwriters (about 40 in total). He performs that song, "Don't You Want to Know," at the festival's open mic stage. He also attends the live 40th anniversary telecast of the Canadian Juno Music Awards in Toronto at the Air Canada Centre, where Arcade Fire, Neil Young, and Shania Twain all appear. 2015 - In October, Dennis brings the band back together to record two new songs. Now calling themselves simply, The Dennis Fuentes Band, Dennis, Tony, & Coz record one new original and one new cover song. The original song, "This December Nite," is about a solder driving thru the nite to get home in time for Christmas. Dennis calls it "a Christmas song that's also not a Christmas song." The cover is a song written by Toronto singer/songwriter, Matthew Barber, called "Easily Bruised." It's a song that Dennis has loved ever since he heard it in 2009. The #1 song on the Billboard Hot 100 Charts on his birthday this year is Wiz Khalifa's "See You Again."
2016 - Four singles will be released: the aforementioned "This December Nite" and a remastered "Beautiful Again" in March; "Easily Bruised" in April; and a remixed and remastered version of "Five Days in May" in May. "
